22-Year-Old Muslimah, Hanat Alli, Shines as Second Best Graduating Nursing Student at Lead City University

In a remarkable academic feat, 22-year-old Hanat Alli, a devout Muslimah, has emerged as the second best graduating student in the Department of Nursing Science at Lead City University, Ibadan, for the 2024/2025 academic session. Her outstanding performance was officially recognised during the department’s induction and oath-taking ceremony, held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the institution’s Adeline Hall.

The event marked a major milestone in her journey through the rigorous five-year Bachelor of Nursing Science programme, which is housed under the Faculty of Basic Medical and Applied Sciences at Lead City University. Dressed modestly and beaming with gratitude, Hanat described the moment as both humbling and fulfilling, attributing her success to divine favour and the unwavering support she received from family, mentors, and colleagues throughout her academic pursuit.

“My name is Hanat Alli, and I’m a newly registered nurse from Lead City University, Ibadan,” she proudly stated while speaking in an interview on Friday, July 18. She recalled her early educational foundation at Ummul Qura Group of Schools, Ibadan, where she completed both her primary and secondary education. That foundation, she noted, played a vital role in shaping her discipline, academic focus, and values.

Reflecting on what inspired her to choose nursing, Hanat said her decision was born out of a sincere passion for healthcare and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of others. “I chose nursing to further my interest in the healthcare profession,” she said with conviction.

She credited her success to a combination of hard work, spiritual devotion, and support from peers. “I prayed, trusted Allah (SWT), studied diligently, asked questions from senior students, formed a study group, and balanced my time between personal reflection and friends,” she explained. Her statement underscored a journey built on faith, focus, and strategic preparation.

Outside the classroom, Hanat was far from a passive student. She played an active role in student leadership and faith-based activities. She confirmed the presence of a vibrant Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) chapter on campus, where she drew strength and inspiration. Notably, she served as the Deputy Senate President of the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students’ Association (NUNSA), Lead City University chapter, during the 2023/2024 academic year.

Looking ahead, Hanat expressed deep optimism about her future in the healthcare sector. She voiced her desire to build on her current achievements and pursue greater professional goals. “I plan to progress in my career. I’m really excited about what the future holds. May Allah (SWT) preserve us all upon khayr,” she said, offering prayers and words of encouragement to fellow aspiring nurses.

Her story stands as a powerful reminder of what is possible when determination meets discipline, and when academic pursuits are guided by purpose, faith, and community support. Hanat Alli’s journey continues to inspire, not only within the nursing profession but also among young Nigerians striving for excellence in all spheres of life.
