Air Canada to Restore Flights Following Resolution of Workers’ Strike

Toronto, Canada — August 17, 2025 | Air Canada has announced plans to restore full flight operations after reaching a deal with workers’ unions, bringing an end to a strike that disrupted services and left thousands of passengers stranded across various destinations.

The strike, which lasted several days, was triggered by demands for better wages, improved working conditions, and enhanced staff welfare. The industrial action led to widespread flight cancellations and delays, affecting both domestic and international routes.

In a statement, the airline’s management confirmed that an agreement had been reached after intensive negotiations, assuring customers that recovery flights would be deployed to ease the backlog and accommodate stranded passengers. Management also pledged to strengthen communication channels to provide timely updates during disruptions.

Union representatives welcomed the outcome, stressing that the new agreement addressed long-standing staff concerns and paved the way for improved labour relations.

Industry analysts noted that the resumption of services comes as a relief to Canada’s aviation sector, which has been battling increased travel demand and operational pressures. The resolution, they said, will not only restore customer confidence but also stabilise flight schedules ahead of the peak travel season.
