Anas al-Sharif, a seasoned journalist with Al Jazeera, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City, intensifying concerns over the safety of media personnel covering the ongoing conflict.
According to Al Jazeera, al-Sharif was on assignment when the strike occurred, marking another loss for the network amid escalating hostilities in the Gaza Strip. The veteran reporter had been documenting the humanitarian crisis in the enclave, often broadcasting from areas severely affected by bombardments.
The Al Jazeera Media Network, in a statement released shortly after his death, condemned the attack and reiterated its accusation that the Israeli military is engaged in a “campaign of incitement” against its journalists in Gaza. The network noted that al-Sharif had faced repeated threats and targeted rhetoric in recent weeks, which it said endangered the lives of its correspondents.
