ARHOSPS, DAWN Commission Set to Launch Book on Governance and Development

The Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, South West Nigeria (ARHOSPS-SWN), in collaboration with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, is set to unveil a new publication titled Reflections on Governance and Development in Nigeria.

The book launch is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the New Hall of the Local Government Staff Training School, State Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State. The event is expected to commence at 10:00 a.m.

According to a joint statement by the organisers, the book is a product of collaborative research and experiential reflections by retired senior civil servants and public administrators from the South West region. It is aimed at contributing to national discourse on effective governance, public policy, and sustainable development in Nigeria.

The publication highlights key lessons and strategic recommendations derived from decades of public service experience, with a focus on addressing contemporary governance challenges and strengthening institutional frameworks.

The event is expected to draw dignitaries from across the six South West states, including incumbent and former public officials, scholars, development experts, and stakeholders in the governance sector.

Speaking ahead of the launch, officials from DAWN Commission emphasized the significance of the publication in shaping the trajectory of sub-national development and fostering intergenerational learning.

“This book is both a historical archive and a strategic guide for future leaders. It reflects the collective wisdom of seasoned administrators who have contributed immensely to the civil service and governance in Nigeria,” the statement read.

ARHOSPS-SWN and DAWN Commission have reiterated their commitment to promoting good governance, public sector innovation, and regional cooperation as pillars of sustainable development in the South West.
