Bobrisky Falls Victim to $990 Online Romance Scam, Warns Fans

Popular Nigerian crossdresser and socialite, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, better known as Bobrisky, has revealed that he was recently scammed out of $990 in an online romance fraud.

Taking to his Instagram account on Sunday, Bobrisky expressed his shock and frustration, stating that he never expected to fall victim to such a scam. The fraudster, who had been engaging with Bobrisky for months, initially claimed to be based in the United States before later saying they had relocated to Canada.

According to Bobrisky, the scammer had built a rapport with him over time, frequently calling and showing what seemed like genuine interest in his life.

“I never thought in my life I would be a client to anybody. This guy came into my DMs, and we started talking — it’s been a few months now. He calls me almost every day. He said he lived in the USA but later moved to Canada,” Bobrisky shared.

The situation took a turn when a client from the U.S. reached out to Bobrisky for an advertisement and requested to make a deposit via CashApp. Bobrisky asked the alleged lover for assistance in receiving the payment, to which the scammer agreed. However, after the transfer was made, the scammer blocked him.

“Few weeks later, someone in the USA contacted me for ads. She said she needed a Cash App to pay a deposit, and I asked this guy I’ve been talking to for his CashApp. As soon as he received the money, he blocked me immediately,” Bobrisky explained.

The socialite shared screenshots of his conversations with the scammer and even posted a photo of the alleged fraudster on his social media platform. Bobrisky warned his fans to be vigilant and avoid falling into similar traps.

“Be careful, don’t fall for schemes like this. Always verify everything,” he cautioned.

This incident serves as a reminder of the increasing prevalence of online scams, particularly those involving fake romantic relationships, and the need for caution when engaging with people on social media.
