Chinese Delegates from Quanyu Engage Lagos Tourism Officials on Economic and Cultural Partnerships

August 27, 2025 — A high-powered delegation from Quanyu, China, has met with top officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture to explore new avenues of economic and cultural cooperation.

The meeting, held in Lagos, focused on boosting tourism exchange, promoting cultural heritage, and strengthening bilateral trade relations between Lagos and Quanyu. According to officials, the engagement is expected to pave the way for joint investment opportunities in hospitality, creative industries, and tourism infrastructure.

Leader of the Chinese delegation, Mr. Zhang Wei, highlighted Quanyu’s interest in partnering with Lagos as a gateway to Africa’s cultural and economic market. He described Lagos as a city of immense potential, especially in tourism and entertainment, stressing that cultural diplomacy can open broader opportunities for both sides.

Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, welcomed the delegates, affirming Lagos’ readiness to attract foreign partnerships that will further enhance its position as Nigeria’s cultural hub. She emphasized that collaborations of this nature would not only drive economic growth but also promote mutual understanding between China and Nigeria.

Both parties expressed optimism that the dialogue would lead to concrete agreements in the coming months, particularly in cultural exchange programs, investment in tourism facilities, and joint festivals aimed at showcasing shared heritage.
