Comptroller Jaja Assumes Leadership of Eastern Marine Command, Vows Stronger Trade Facilitation

September 19, 2025 – The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the appointment of Comptroller Jaja as the new Area Controller of the Eastern Marine Command.

Speaking during the official handover ceremony, Comptroller Jaja pledged to prioritise enhanced trade facilitation, improved maritime security, and stronger community engagement in the command’s operational areas. He emphasised that his leadership will focus on building partnerships with stakeholders to boost revenue generation, curb smuggling, and ensure seamless trade activities along Nigeria’s eastern waterways.

Jaja noted that community cooperation is vital to the success of Customs operations, assuring residents and business operators in riverine areas of fairness, professionalism, and transparency in enforcement activities.

He also reiterated the Service’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s economic policies by safeguarding maritime borders and promoting legitimate trade.

The Eastern Marine Command plays a strategic role in policing Nigeria’s territorial waters and inland creeks, making Comptroller Jaja’s appointment a significant step in strengthening maritime operations.
