As Muslims across Nigeria prepare to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has called on Nigerians, especially the Muslim faithful, to embrace peace, tolerance, and unity during and beyond the festive period.
In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer in Abuja, the Corps Marshal emphasized that Eid-el-Kabir, a celebration of sacrifice, obedience, and devotion to God, presents an opportunity for renewed commitment to national values and peaceful coexistence among all citizens.
“As Muslims commemorate the spirit of sacrifice exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), I urge everyone to reflect on the essence of this holy celebration—obedience, humility, peace, and tolerance,” the statement read.
Mohammed further advised motorists and travellers to exercise caution on the roads, noting that the FRSC has deployed personnel and logistics nationwide to ensure free flow of traffic and accident-free movements during the festive season.
The Corps Marshal warned against speeding, overloading, and reckless driving, stating that road safety is a collective responsibility. He also urged transport operators and private vehicle owners to maintain their vehicles and comply with all safety regulations.
“Our personnel have been strategically deployed to critical corridors across the country, and we are working closely with other security agencies to provide prompt rescue services and manage traffic effectively,” he added.
Mohammed also appealed to community leaders, religious groups, and stakeholders to promote messages of harmony and shared responsibility as the nation navigates social and economic challenges.
The FRSC reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety on Nigerian roads and called on the public to support law enforcement efforts by reporting reckless behavior and emergencies via its toll-free emergency line: 122.
