Abuja, Nigeria – June 2025
Dr. Ali Bukar Dalori has been officially sworn in as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), succeeding Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who formally resigned from the position.
The leadership transition took place on Tuesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja during a brief ceremony attended by top party officials, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), and key stakeholders.
Dalori, who previously served as the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), was unanimously endorsed by party leaders following Ganduje’s decision to step aside amidst internal consultations and calls for restructuring within the party hierarchy.
In his inaugural remarks, Dalori pledged to reposition the ruling party for unity, growth, and electoral victory in upcoming contests. He emphasized inclusiveness, discipline, and youth engagement as pillars of his leadership approach.
“I am deeply honored by the trust placed in me to lead our great party at this critical moment. My commitment is to build bridges, strengthen party structures at all levels, and restore confidence in our internal processes,” Dalori stated.
Outgoing chairman Ganduje, in his farewell address, thanked party members for their support during his tenure and urged them to rally behind the new leadership for the sake of party stability and national progress.
“With a sense of fulfillment, I leave the stage knowing that our party is in capable hands. Let us support Dalori to take APC to greater heights,” Ganduje said.
The development comes amid ongoing realignments within the APC as it prepares for off-season elections and future national contests. Dalori’s emergence is seen as part of broader efforts to consolidate the party’s base and resolve lingering internal tensions.
