Benin City, Nigeria – July, 2025
In a gesture of compassion and commitment to citizen welfare, the Edo State Government has presented a financial support package of ₦2 million to Mr. Felix Jude Iredia, a victim of the devastating rainstorm that struck Benin City on 20th February 2025.
The assistance was provided as part of the government’s post-disaster response to help victims rebuild their lives and homes affected by natural calamities. Mr. Iredia, who sustained significant losses from the storm, was selected as one of the priority beneficiaries based on the severity of damage recorded.
Presenting the cheque, officials of the Edo State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) reaffirmed the government’s resolve under Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration to respond swiftly and humanely to emergencies, particularly those impacting the most vulnerable residents.
“The welfare of our citizens remains paramount. This support is to help Mr. Iredia recover from the unfortunate incident and represents our continued commitment to responsive governance,” said a SEMA representative during the handover ceremony.
Mr. Iredia, visibly emotional, expressed deep appreciation to the state government for the timely intervention. He noted that the support would greatly assist him in rebuilding and stabilizing his livelihood.
The initiative underscores Edo State’s proactive disaster management and human-centered governance model, setting an example for responsive leadership and community care.
