As Muslims in Bauchi State and across Nigeria prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, the Bauchi State Police Command has announced comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders to intensify security patrols, particularly in areas identified as potential flashpoints.
The statement emphasized the importance of law and order during the festive period, warning criminal elements against any attempt to disrupt the celebrations. “Anyone planning to cause disturbances is strongly advised to rethink their actions. They should either participate in the festivities peacefully, seek rehabilitation through lawful means, or be prepared to face the full weight of the law,” Wakil stated.
To bolster security, the Command has deployed undercover operatives to gather intelligence and report directly to the central control room. The aim is to detect and neutralize any potential threats before they escalate. These officers will work in tandem with uniformed personnel who will be stationed across strategic locations, ensuring maximum security coverage.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through designated emergency contact lines—08151849417 and 09053872273. Additionally, citizens can use the Police Rescue Me App for rapid response to security concerns.
CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, while felicitating with the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, reaffirmed the commitment of the Bauchi State Police Command to safeguarding lives and property.
“As part of our duty to maintain peace, we have put in place robust security measures that will ensure a safe and conducive environment for prayers and celebrations across the state. The safety of every resident remains our top priority,” he assured.
The Police Command has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on criminal activities, calling on all stakeholders, including religious leaders, community heads, and youth groups, to cooperate with security agencies in maintaining peace and order.
As Bauchi joins the rest of the Muslim world in marking this significant occasion, the Police Command has assured that all necessary precautions have been taken to guarantee a secure and incident-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
