First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Donates ₦110 Million to Families of Kano Athletes Killed in Road Accident

Abuja, Nigeria – August 9, 2025

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦110 million to the families of the late Kano State athletes who lost their lives in a recent road accident.

The tragic incident claimed the lives of several young sportsmen and women who were returning from a national competition. Presenting the donation on behalf of the First Lady, her representatives expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of the Federal Government’s support during this difficult time.

Senator Tinubu described the athletes as “national treasures whose dedication and talent brought pride to Nigeria,” adding that their untimely deaths were a painful loss to both the sports community and the nation.

The donation, she noted, was aimed at easing the financial burden on the families while honoring the memory of the athletes, whose commitment to excellence would continue to inspire future generations.

Officials from the Kano State government, sports associations, and family members of the deceased attended the presentation ceremony, where prayers were offered for the repose of the departed souls.
