Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has continued to earn commendations for his visible commitment to infrastructure development, with several key projects completed and many more ongoing across the state.
Since assuming office in 2023, Governor Oborevwori has steadily rolled out his development agenda under the MORE mantra — Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security. His administration’s emphasis on physical infrastructure has led to the delivery of strategic road networks, bridges, and urban renewal projects that are fast transforming the landscape of Delta State.
Among the notable completed projects is the expansive upgrade of internal roads within Warri and Effurun, areas that had long suffered from neglect and poor drainage systems. The Oborevwori-led government undertook a comprehensive rehabilitation of major access roads, easing traffic congestion and improving business flow in the twin cities, which serve as commercial nerve centres of the state.
Also completed is the long-awaited Orere Bridge in Ughelli South Local Government Area, which had been abandoned for years due to funding and logistical constraints. Its completion has now reconnected previously cut-off communities and revived socio-economic activities for residents in the region. The project has been widely hailed by traditional rulers and local leaders as a life-changing intervention.
Furthermore, Governor Oborevwori’s administration has made significant progress in the construction of the stormwater drainage system in Asaba and surrounding areas. This project, which had been plagued by flooding and erosion during the rainy season, is aimed at permanently addressing perennial flood challenges in the state capital.
Speaking recently during the commissioning of completed projects, the Governor reaffirmed his government’s commitment to delivering people-oriented infrastructure. “We are intentional about touching every part of Delta State with tangible development,” he said. “Our projects are not just brick and mortar, but pathways to economic growth, education, and better living standards.”
The governor’s infrastructural strides have not gone unnoticed. Community leaders, market associations, youth groups, and political stakeholders have praised the pace and spread of his projects, describing them as unprecedented in such a short time.
As Delta State continues to benefit from renewed investments in infrastructure under Governor Oborevwori, there is growing optimism that the administration’s deliberate focus on inclusivity and development will set a sustainable foundation for future growth and prosperity.
