Harvarde College Eyes HND in Law Programme, Unveils Upgraded Facilities in Preparation for NBTE Accreditation

Harvarde College of Science, Business and Management Studies has announced its intention to commence a Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Law, marking a pioneering step within the Nigerian legal education space.

This was disclosed during a recent facility showcase event held at the institution’s campus in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of preparations ahead of an inspection visit by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The college management, led by its Provost, stated that the new programme aligns with the institution’s vision to broaden access to legal education and produce practically skilled legal professionals. The Provost further noted that the proposed HND in Law will complement existing programmes and offer a more accessible route for aspiring legal practitioners and paralegals.

As part of its readiness, the institution showcased newly renovated lecture halls, an upgraded law library equipped with digital research tools, mock courtrooms, and other infrastructural enhancements. These facilities, according to the management, were specifically designed to meet NBTE’s regulatory standards and ensure a conducive learning environment for students.

Representatives of the NBTE are expected to visit the college in the coming weeks for a formal accreditation assessment. The outcome of the inspection will determine the greenlight for the official launch of the HND Law programme.

If approved, Harvarde College would be among the first in Nigeria to run such a programme, signalling a shift toward diversifying the nation’s legal education landscape.
