Worshippers at the Prophet’s Mosque witnessed a historic moment on Sunday night as a special lunar eclipse prayer coincided in exact duration with the celestial event itself.
The prayer, which began at 8:45 p.m. during the eclipse, lasted precisely 1 hour and 7 minutes—the same length of the eclipse. Sheikh Abdullah Al Qurafi led the congregation, reciting 25 pages from the Qur’an in a deeply moving service that featured seven prostrations.
The rare alignment between the prayer length and the eclipse captivated worshippers, many of whom described the moment as a profound reminder of divine order and the harmony between creation and worship.
The lunar eclipse was visible across parts of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, with Medina marking the occasion through this spiritually significant gathering at Islam’s second holiest mosque.
