JAMB Rectifies FUTA Graduate’s Status Following Alleged Fake Admission Claim

Abuja | July 7, 2025 — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially corrected the admission status of a graduate from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), following widespread concerns and accusations that the individual’s admission was fake.

The issue came to light after the affected graduate, whose identity has been withheld, was reportedly denied access to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation due to discrepancies in JAMB’s admission records. The situation sparked public outrage and drew attention from alumni, education stakeholders, and student rights advocates.

JAMB, in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that the error was administrative and has now been rectified after a thorough investigation and verification of the student’s academic records.

“The candidate in question was indeed duly admitted into FUTA through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), and has since fulfilled all graduation requirements. The issue arose from a technical misalignment in data synchronisation between the institution and our database,” the statement read.

Dr. Benjamin emphasised JAMB’s commitment to transparency and fairness, assuring affected students that corrective measures have been put in place to prevent similar occurrences. He added that JAMB is continuously working with tertiary institutions to improve data validation processes.

The FUTA graduate has since been re-listed with valid admission status and is now eligible for NYSC mobilisation in the next batch.

This development brings relief to the student and sets a precedent for the resolution of similar cases where students have suffered setbacks due to bureaucratic errors.
