JAMB Refutes Claim of Approving Admission for FUTA Graduate

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied allegations that it approved the admission of a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) currently at the centre of a controversy surrounding her academic credentials.

In an official statement issued on Monday, JAMB clarified that after thorough verification, there was no official record indicating the candidate in question was ever offered admission through the Board’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

The Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, stated that the claim circulating on social media and various news platforms, suggesting that JAMB endorsed the admission of the said individual, was false and misleading.

“JAMB operates a transparent and verifiable admission process,” the statement read. “Every admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria must be processed through CAPS. Upon investigation, we found no admission approval or record of the individual’s data in our system for the year in question.”

Dr. Benjamin reiterated JAMB’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the admission process and warned against falsification of records or manipulation of academic claims.

He further called on institutions and the general public to rely only on official records from JAMB’s database, adding that the Board remains available to verify any admission claims upon request.

The statement concluded with a warning to prospective students and institutions to adhere strictly to admission regulations, noting that the Board will continue to work with relevant authorities to expose and prosecute those involved in academic fraud.
