Kano Pillars FC Technical Adviser Usman Abdullah Resigns, Cites ‘Significant Opportunity’

Kano — June 12, 2025

In a surprising development, Usman Abdullah, the Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars Football Club, has officially resigned from his position, citing a “significant professional opportunity” as the primary reason for his departure.

The resignation was confirmed in a brief statement issued by the club’s management on Wednesday, acknowledging Abdullah’s contribution to the team’s progress and wishing him success in his future endeavours.

Speaking on the decision, Abdullah expressed gratitude to the club, players, and fans for their unwavering support during his tenure.

“It has been an honour to serve as Technical Adviser to Kano Pillars. I am proud of what we have achieved together. However, I have been presented with a professional opportunity that aligns with my long-term career aspirations,” he stated.

The experienced tactician, who joined the Sai Masu Gida side in 2023, helped steer the team to a mid-table finish in the 2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season and was lauded for introducing a disciplined playing style and grooming young talent.

Club officials say plans are already underway to appoint a new technical head ahead of pre-season preparations.
