Katsina Govt Approves ₦23.8 Billion for Key Projects in Infrastructure, Health, Security, and Tourism

Katsina, August 1, 2025

The Katsina State Government has approved a comprehensive funding package totaling ₦23.8 billion to drive major development projects across the state, with allocations targeting infrastructure, healthcare, internal security, and tourism enhancement.

The approval was announced following the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering sustainable development and improving the living standards of citizens across all 34 local government areas.

According to a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Bala Zango, the funds will be used to execute critical road construction and rehabilitation projects, expand health service delivery, strengthen security architecture, and upgrade tourism and hospitality infrastructure to attract investment and boost internally generated revenue.

Key among the projects is the construction of a modern general hospital in the Kafur Local Government Area, aimed at increasing access to quality healthcare in underserved communities. The government also plans to build and equip a hospitality training school as part of broader efforts to develop the tourism sector and position the state as a regional destination.

In the area of security, the administration is set to deploy resources to reinforce community policing initiatives, provide operational vehicles for law enforcement, and upgrade strategic security installations to counter the menace of banditry and rural crime.

Governor Radda emphasized that the allocation is not only a response to the state’s urgent developmental needs but also a reflection of his administration’s resolve to create a safer, healthier, and economically viable Katsina.

“We are investing in the fundamentals, roads, hospitals, security, and skills, to ensure that Katsina remains on the path of inclusive growth and long-term stability,” the governor stated.

The decision comes amid growing public demand for improved governance outcomes, particularly in the wake of persistent security threats and underdevelopment in northern Nigeria. Analysts say the move may serve as a litmus test for the Radda administration’s ability to translate budgetary allocations into tangible, people-centered results.

With the latest fiscal commitments, the Katsina State Government hopes to accelerate socioeconomic transformation and rebuild public trust through visible progress and accountability in project execution.
