The Kenya Football Federation (FKF) has launched an investigation into allegations of match manipulation against national team goalkeeper Patrick Matasi. A shocking undated video posted online appears to show Matasi agreeing to influence the outcome of a league game.
The 37-year-old goalkeeper, who plays for Kenyan Premier League club Kakamega Homeboyz, has won over 30 international caps and most recently appeared for the Harambee Stars in October last year.
FKF has vowed to work with FIFA, the Confederation of African Football, and other relevant authorities to investigate the allegations. “We reaffirm our zero-tolerance policy on match manipulation and are committed to safeguarding the credibility of our competitions,” the FKF stated.
Matasi’s club, Kakamega Homeboyz, has offered its support to the goalkeeper, with owner Cleophas Shimanyula stating that Matasi has not wronged the club and will continue to play for them unless evidence of wrongdoing is presented.
The FKF has called on anyone with credible information to assist its investigation, with all reports to be handled with strict confidentiality.

As the investigation unfolds, Matasi’s future in the sport remains uncertain. Will he be cleared of the allegations, or will he face severe consequences for his alleged involvement in match-fixing?
