Leeds United Set Sights on Porto Left-Back Zaidu Sanusi with €2m Summer Bid

Leeds United are reportedly preparing a €2m summer bid for Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi, according to Africa Foot. The Championship side has opened talks with Porto over a potential deal, as they seek to replace Junior Firpo, whose contract expires this summer.

Sanusi, a Nigeria international with 22 caps, has been limited to just three league appearances this season due to a cruciate ligament tear. However, the 26-year-old has battled back to full fitness and is now attracting interest from Leeds.

The Championship side is willing to offer Sanusi a deal until 2029, and the offer is not contingent on promotion to the Premier League. Leeds, who currently sit second in the Championship, two points behind leaders Sheffield United, are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

Sanusi’s potential move to Elland Road would provide a low-cost replacement for Firpo, who is set to leave the club this summer. Porto, however, have yet to decide whether they are willing to sell Sanusi, who has a contract until 2027.

Leeds’ interest in Sanusi highlights their ambition to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. The club’s manager, Daniel Farke, will be keen to bolster his defense, and Sanusi’s experience and skills would be a valuable addition to the team.

Leeds face Luton on Saturday, looking to maintain the pressure on Sheffield United at the top of the Championship table. A win would keep them in contention for automatic promotion, and the potential signing of Sanusi would provide a boost to their promotion hopes.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Leeds’ pursuit of Sanusi will be one to watch. The Nigerian left-back’s potential move to Elland Road could be a shrewd signing for the Championship side, and one that could help them achieve their promotion ambitions.
