Nigeria’s Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, on Wednesday hosted a series of high-level meetings in Abuja with diplomatic representatives from the Netherlands, Russia, Mexico, and China, as part of renewed efforts to deepen Nigeria’s global economic engagement.
The talks focused on expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation across key sectors such as trade, infrastructure, technology, and foreign direct investment. The minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to building strategic alliances that foster job creation, innovation, and inclusive economic growth.
“Our administration is determined to transform Nigeria into a globally competitive economy by leveraging meaningful partnerships that translate into shared prosperity and sustainable development,” Dr. Oduwole stated during the sessions.
Each country’s delegation expressed readiness to work with Nigeria on mutually beneficial initiatives, ranging from industrial capacity building and technology transfer to infrastructure development and market access facilitation.
The meetings laid the groundwork for follow-up consultations that will shape Nigeria’s next steps in economic diplomacy. Officials say the engagements reflect the administration’s broader goal to reposition Nigeria as a preferred destination for investment, trade collaboration, and innovation-driven growth.
As part of its economic reform agenda, the Tinubu-led government continues to seek partnerships that will drive inclusive development, enhance competitiveness, and improve the welfare of Nigerians through strategic global cooperation.
