Lagos, May 15, 2025 — The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) Nigeria has expressed strong support for the leadership of Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in the wake of a recent technical glitch that affected thousands of students during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a detailed press statement released via its official Twitter account, MPAC extended heartfelt sympathies to students and families affected by the glitch, acknowledging the distress and uncertainty it caused. The organization commended the swift response of Professor Oloyede, who has publicly accepted responsibility and outlined a clear plan for corrective action.
“By taking personal responsibility and outlining a clear plan to address the problem, Professor Oloyede has shown exemplary accountability and a commitment to finding solutions,” MPAC stated.
Highlighting JAMB’s transformation under Oloyede’s leadership, MPAC noted that the examination body has moved from being a loss-making agency to a revenue-generating institution that other public bodies should emulate. The organization credited Oloyede’s leadership with implementing reforms that have enhanced fairness, transparency, and integrity in Nigeria’s examination system.
Despite calls from some quarters for Oloyede’s resignation, MPAC rejected such criticisms as “unfounded and politically motivated,” urging Nigerians to focus on the broader progress made in JAMB’s operations over the past years.
“His leadership has improved the lives of countless students and parents by providing a fair and merit-based opportunity to access higher education,” MPAC affirmed.
The Centre encouraged stakeholders — including students, parents, and the general public — to remain calm and continue supporting JAMB’s efforts to resolve the issue transparently.
MPAC further expressed confidence that the glitch would be resolved effectively and called on the public not to lose sight of the reforms already achieved by the Board under Oloyede’s tenure since his appointment in 2016.
“We look forward to seeing the successful resolution of this issue and the continued growth and development of our education system,” concluded the statement, signed by Disu Kamor, Executive Chairman of MPAC.
