MTN Nigeria Invests ₦3 Billion to Train 90,000 Nigerians Under 3MTT Digital Skills Programme

ABUJA, NIGERIA — Telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s digital transformation by investing ₦3 billion in the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, a flagship programme aimed at upskilling young Nigerians in tech-related fields.

The investment, channeled through the Pan-African United Foundation, has enabled the training of over 90,000 Nigerians across 197 Approved Learning Centres (ALCs) nationwide, further advancing the government’s vision of building a digitally skilled workforce.

Speaking on the partnership, representatives from MTN Nigeria stated that the company remains a strong supporter of the 3MTT vision, which seeks to empower Nigerians with globally competitive digital skills, stimulate innovation, and drive job creation in the country’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

“Our commitment to the 3MTT programme is not just in words, but in action,” MTN Nigeria said in a statement. “We are proud to have contributed to training over 90,000 individuals so far, helping to prepare Nigeria’s youth for the jobs of the future.”

The 3MTT initiative, launched by the Federal Government as part of its Renewed Hope Agenda, is designed to train three million Nigerians in key areas such as software engineering, cybersecurity, data analysis, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence over a multi-year period.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has consistently highlighted the importance of private sector collaboration in achieving the programme’s ambitious goals. MTN Nigeria’s support, he noted, exemplifies the kind of strategic partnership needed to unlock the potential of Nigeria’s digital economy.

Digital economy experts have commended the move, stating that mass technical training programmes like 3MTT are crucial in addressing the nation’s unemployment challenges and positioning Nigeria as a talent hub for the global tech ecosystem.

As the 3MTT programme expands, more private sector players are expected to join the effort, bridging the digital skills gap and equipping Nigeria’s youth for the fourth industrial revolution.
