The newly appointed Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Nnam, has officially assumed duty, with a strong charge to staff under his leadership to uphold the highest standards of performance, professionalism, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
Addressing departmental directors and unit heads at his inaugural meeting held at the ministry headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Nnam expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to serve with diligence, transparency, and a renewed sense of purpose in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Today is not just a new chapter for me, but a fresh call to excellence for all of us. We must rise beyond routine and aim for superlative performance,” Nnam declared. “The Nigerian public expects results, and it is our collective responsibility to deliver services that are efficient, accountable, and people-centered.”
He emphasised the need for teamwork, innovation, and a result-oriented work culture that reflects the core values of the civil service. While acknowledging the challenges facing the ministry, the Permanent Secretary assured staff that with collaboration and commitment, the obstacles can be turned into stepping stones for institutional growth.
Mr. Nnam also called for an open-door policy, urging staff to share ideas that could improve efficiency and eliminate redundancies. He noted that civil servants must be drivers of reform and not just custodians of processes, stressing the urgency of aligning operations with global best practices.
In response, senior staff and directors welcomed the new Permanent Secretary and pledged their support to his leadership vision. They expressed optimism that his tenure would bring renewed vigour and meaningful transformation to the ministry’s operations.
Mr. Nnam takes over at a time when the Federal Government is intensifying public sector reforms and digital transformation to improve service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies.
His assumption of duty marks a key step in strengthening institutional leadership and reinforcing the Federal Civil Service’s commitment to national development goals.
