Nigeria Set to Resume Pilgrimages to Israel and Jordan in September 2025

August 18, 2025 — The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has announced the resumption of pilgrimages to Israel and Jordan, following the lifting of a travel suspension that was previously imposed due to security concerns in the Middle East.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Executive Secretary of the NCPC, stated that the main Easter pilgrimage is scheduled to commence on September 14, 2025, with the first flight departing from Imo State. Ahead of this, Bishop Adegbite will lead an executive delegation of 100 members of the House of Representatives to Israel to assess arrangements and ensure a smooth experience for all pilgrims.

The resumption of trips represents a major milestone for Nigerian Christians, who have been unable to travel to the Holy Land for several years. The NCPC confirmed that all necessary safety measures and logistical arrangements have been put in place to guarantee a secure and well-organized pilgrimage.

Bishop Adegbite urged prospective pilgrims to complete their registration promptly, assuring that both spiritual and logistical support will be provided throughout the journey. The commission is also working closely with relevant authorities to ensure a seamless travel experience for all participants visiting Israel and Jordan’s revered religious sites.
