Nigerian Defence Academy to Conduct Live-Fire Exercise, Urges Public to Stay Clear of Area

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced that it will be conducting a live-fire exercise as part of the Elementary Application of Fire training for cadets of the 75 Regular Course. The exercise is scheduled to take place from April 10 to April 12, 2025, at the NDA Open Range in Afaka, Kaduna State.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Major Mohammed Maidawa, explained that the primary aim of the exercise is to provide the cadets with practical, hands-on experience in live firing scenarios. This exercise will enhance their tactical skills and firing proficiency, which are essential for their military training.

Maidawa further assured the public that the academy is committed to ensuring safety during the exercise. He urged residents, particularly farmers and herders in the surrounding areas, to avoid the range during the exercise period to prevent any incidents.

“The NDA kindly requests that members of the community stay clear of the range area from April 10 to April 12. Strict safety measures will be in place, and unauthorized individuals will not be allowed access to the firing range during this time,” the statement read.

This exercise is part of the NDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the training of its cadets, equipping them with the necessary skills to serve in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
