Nigeria’s Non-Oil Exports Rise to $3.23 Billion in First Half of 2025 — NEPC

Abuja, August 11, 2025

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has announced that the country recorded $3.23 billion in non-oil export earnings in the first half of 2025, reflecting a sustained drive to diversify the economy away from crude oil dependence.

NEPC Executive Director, Nonye Ayeni, disclosed the figures in Abuja on Monday, noting that the export growth was driven by increased shipments of agricultural commodities, manufactured goods, and solid minerals to markets across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

According to Ayeni, cocoa, sesame seeds, cashew nuts, aluminium products, and fertilisers ranked among the top contributors to export revenue during the period. She attributed the positive performance to ongoing government interventions in trade facilitation, value addition, and market access expansion through trade agreements.

Ayeni stressed that the NEPC will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to remove bottlenecks affecting exporters, improve product quality standards, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global market. She expressed optimism that the sector’s performance in the second half of the year could surpass current figures if stakeholders maintain the momentum.

The non-oil export drive remains a key component of Nigeria’s economic diversification strategy aimed at reducing reliance on volatile oil prices and boosting foreign exchange inflows.
