Abuja, Nigeria – July , 2025 — The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, on Thursday, hosted the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Suzuki Hideo, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja to advance bilateral cooperation in digital technology.
The high-level engagement served as a platform to strengthen digital ties between Nigeria and Japan, focusing on areas such as innovation, digital skills acquisition, capacity building, and technological investments.
Speaking during the meeting, DG Inuwa emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to building a vibrant digital economy through strategic international partnerships. He noted that Nigeria is eager to collaborate with Japan in leveraging emerging technologies to create job opportunities, attract foreign direct investment, and upskill its youth population.
Ambassador Suzuki expressed Japan’s readiness to support Nigeria’s digital transformation efforts, highlighting the importance of knowledge exchange and innovation-driven policies as catalysts for economic development.
Both parties explored several areas of mutual interest, including tech start-up incubation, cybersecurity, smart infrastructure, and education technology, as part of a broader agenda to deepen the long-standing diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
