NSC Chairman Declares 6th OSOM Games Open in Abuja

The 6th edition of the One Service, One Medal (OSOM) Games officially commenced on Thursday, April 24, 2025, with Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), declaring the games open at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

In his opening address, Dikko reaffirmed the NSC’s commitment to organizing regular internal competitions as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative for the Nigerian Sports Economy (RHINSE). He highlighted that such events are vital in unearthing new talents and keeping athletes actively engaged. Dikko also emphasized that the games are designed to develop top-tier athletes within Nigeria’s security agencies, ensuring that they remain competitive on both national and international platforms.

The OSOM Games, which bring together personnel from Nigeria’s security agencies, aim to promote unity and collaboration through friendly competition. The event features various sports disciplines, offering participants a chance to showcase their athletic skills and engage in healthy rivalry while fostering inter-agency cooperation.

The opening ceremony of the games was marked by an exciting display of performances, setting a lively and enthusiastic tone for the competition. The games are scheduled to run for several days, with athletes competing for medals and honors in a range of events.

This initiative underscores the NSC’s continued efforts to promote sports within the security sector and contribute to the broader development of Nigeria’s sports culture.
