Oborevwori Reaffirms Youth Inclusion as Pillar of Delta’s Development Under MORE Agenda

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has once again underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth inclusion, declaring that young people remain central to the future and transformation of the state.

Speaking at a recent engagement with youth leaders and stakeholders in Asaba, the governor reiterated that his MORE Agenda, which stands for Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security, is anchored on empowering the youth as strategic partners in governance and economic development.

Governor Oborevwori, who has consistently prioritized youth participation since assuming office, stressed that no meaningful growth can occur in any society without the energy, creativity, and innovation of its younger generation. “Our young people are not just beneficiaries of policies; they are co-creators of the Delta we envision,” he said.

He pointed to several ongoing youth-centred initiatives in the state, including entrepreneurship development programmes, digital skills training, agriculture empowerment schemes, and targeted employment interventions. According to him, these initiatives are not token gestures but part of a deliberate effort to create sustainable platforms where Delta youth can thrive, compete globally, and contribute meaningfully to state-building.

“We are not paying lip service. The commitment is real. From youth representation in decision-making spaces to direct economic empowerment, our goal is to make Delta a model for youth-driven governance,” he added.

The governor also urged the youth to continue to be constructive partners, embracing discipline, innovation, and civic responsibility. He reassured them that his administration will remain transparent and accessible, noting that the doors of government are open to ideas and initiatives that align with the vision of progress and unity.

Many stakeholders have welcomed Oborevwori’s renewed assurance, describing it as a step in the right direction, particularly in a country where youth marginalization has often stifled innovation and discouraged political participation.

As his administration marks over one year in office, observers say the governor’s consistent youth-first rhetoric and initiatives could set Delta apart as a state truly committed to harnessing the power of its most dynamic demographic.
