Abuja, Nigeria – July, 2025 — Nigeria’s Ministers of Petroleum Resources have jointly reaffirmed that rising global investor confidence, bold reforms, and innovation are accelerating the transformation of the country’s oil and gas sector.
Speaking at the 2025 Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week in Abuja, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, outlined the achievements and future plans under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Senator Lokpobiri said Nigeria is witnessing a positive shift in investor sentiment due to ongoing regulatory stability, improved security in the Niger Delta, and strategic fiscal policies aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the nation’s oil assets.
“The confidence of the global oil market in Nigeria is gradually being restored. We are making deliberate efforts to clear bottlenecks in licensing, investment approvals, and community engagement to boost production,” he stated.
On his part, Minister Ekpo emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to a gas-driven economy, saying gas remains the transition fuel critical to Nigeria’s energy security and industrial development.
“We are investing in critical infrastructure like pipelines, virtual gas networks, and gas processing facilities to ensure availability, affordability, and accessibility. Our goal is to transform Nigeria into a regional gas hub,” Ekpo said.
Both ministers commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and private sector partners for their pivotal roles in executing reforms, attracting over $16 billion in new investments over the last two years.
They also highlighted the importance of innovation, digital technology, and capacity building in achieving long-term sustainability and global relevance for Nigeria’s energy industry.
