The Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board (LSPHCB) has paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos Chapter, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, as part of efforts to strengthen community engagement and health advocacy at the grassroots level.
Led by top officials of the Board, the visit was aimed at deepening collaboration with faith-based organisations, particularly churches, in promoting public health initiatives such as routine immunisation, maternal and child health, and disease prevention campaigns across the state.
Speaking during the visit, a representative of the Board emphasized the critical role of religious leaders in influencing positive behavioural change among their congregations, especially in addressing myths and misinformation about vaccines and primary healthcare services.
In his remarks, Bishop Adegbite expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged CAN’s continued support in disseminating health messages and encouraging members of the Christian community to embrace public health interventions. He stressed the need for stronger synergy between government agencies and religious institutions to ensure healthier communities.
The engagement is part of the Lagos State Government’s broader strategy to improve health outcomes through multi-sectoral collaboration and grassroots advocacy.
