Qatar Reaffirms Rejection of Starving Civilians, Demand Unimpeded Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

The State of Qatar has restated its firm rejection of the use of food and starvation tactics as instruments of warfare, insisting that such actions are morally and legally indefensible. Speaking through its Foreign Ministry, Qatar demanded that the international community compel Israel to guarantee the safe, sustained, and unhindered entry of humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip, and to ensure those resources are distributed by neutral international bodies

Representing Qatar at the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al‑Thani emphasized that adherence to international humanitarian law—including the Fourth Geneva Convention—is not optional during armed conflicts. She warned that the failure to respect these principles has contributed to a worsening crisis in Gaza, where humanitarian corridors remain largely blocked for over two months, exacerbating widespread famine and suffering

At the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Qatar also condemned the systematic destruction of Gaza’s food systems and infrastructure by Israeli forces. Presented by Hessa Essa Rashid Al Khater, the statement characterised the policy of blockade and starvation as part of a broader campaign amounting to genocide against Palestinians. Qatar urged the global community to hold perpetrators accountable under international law

In high‑level diplomatic forums, including Doha’s Global Security Forum, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani decried the use of hunger, food, or medicine as tools of war, calling it a “moral failure of the international community” and a stain on humanity. He reiterated that Qatar would continue cooperating with partners like Egypt, the United States, and Turkey to facilitate unimpeded aid flow and press for a ceasefire in Gaza

Qatar’s Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to the Palestinian cause, endorsing the rights to statehood based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. It called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to allow full humanitarian access to all areas of Gaza, underscoring that food must never be weaponised in conflict zones
