Lake Chad — June 18, 2025
In a decisive military operation, Nigerian security forces have successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists targeting the Naval Base at the Lake Chad Fish Dam. According to reliable military sources, scores of insurgents were neutralised during the encounter.
The terrorists reportedly launched a coordinated assault under the cover of darkness, seeking to breach the perimeter of the base located in the strategic Lake Chad region. However, vigilant Nigerian Navy personnel, supported by air and ground reinforcements, thwarted the attack with superior firepower and tactical response.
“The swift and effective counter-offensive operation resulted in the neutralisation of several terrorists while others fled with gunshot wounds,” a senior military officer confirmed under anonymity.
Weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), motorcycles, and other logistics were recovered from the assailants. The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Armed Forces to dismantle terrorist strongholds around Lake Chad and restore normalcy to the region.
The Defence Headquarters commended the bravery and resilience of the troops, reaffirming the military’s commitment to protecting critical national assets and maintaining territorial integrity.
