The United States Mission in Nigeria on Tuesday clarified that all U.S. visa application fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of whether an applicant’s visa is approved or denied.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, the embassy explained that the fee covers the administrative and processing costs incurred once an application is lodged, noting that the policy is in line with practices adopted by many countries worldwide.
“Each visa case is reviewed thoroughly and fairly,” the U.S. Mission assured, addressing public concerns about transparency and fairness in U.S. immigration procedures.
According to the U.S. Department of State, the Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee applies to all applicants and cannot be refunded once payment is made. The embassy urged Nigerians to prepare their documentation carefully to improve their chances of success during the visa application process.
