In response to the notoriously harsh weather conditions during Hajj, particularly in the summer, environmental comfort has been prioritised. New shaded walkways, landscape enhancements, and the deployment of high-capacity misting fans have all been implemented to reduce heat stress and prevent sunstroke among pilgrims. This proactive approach demonstrates the strategic foresight guiding the UAE’s preparations.
In a spiritually uplifting move, the UAE Hajj mission also announced the construction of a new mosque within the Mina camp, with a capacity to accommodate over 400 worshippers. Complementing this, all camps in Arafat now boast purpose-built prayer rooms, each fully equipped with advanced audio and video technology. Speaking to media representatives, Dr. Al Darei emphasized that every facility has been built and upgraded with a focus on safety, spiritual immersion, and ease of movement for pilgrims performing their religious rites.
The UAE’s field teams have been working tirelessly over recent weeks to ensure continuous quality assurance at the sites in Mina and Arafat. Operating round-the-clock, these teams have been overseeing accommodation logistics, medical services, food distribution, and transportation coordination. All operations have been subject to rigorous quality control checks in line with UAE government standards.
Ahmed Rashid Al Neyadi, Director-General of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Zakat, affirmed that the UAE’s mission is fully prepared to receive pilgrims in a manner that reflects dignity, compassion, and excellence. He noted that all services have been tested under live conditions during the trial phase and have proven resilient, efficient, and reliable.
Among the major infrastructural advancements this year is the installation of a third power station in collaboration with Saudi authorities, designed to prevent any disruption in electricity supply during the Hajj period. Additionally, another large prayer area—also with a 400-person capacity—has been constructed in Arafat, providing more space for pilgrims to worship in comfort. Environmental upgrades have also continued, with over 200 trees planted along the perimeter of the camps, adding a layer of natural cooling and visual serenity.
To further enhance airflow and minimize heat discomfort, new ventilation fans have been strategically installed along all main walkways. These efforts reflect the mission’s deep understanding of the physical and emotional challenges pilgrims may face, and its commitment to reducing such burdens.
