New York, June 18, 2025 – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called for maximum restraint and renewed commitment to diplomacy amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel. His message, delivered through spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, warned of the dangerous consequences of any further military escalation in the region.
Speaking at the UN headquarters in New York, Dujarric conveyed the Secretary-General’s deep concern over recent developments that have heightened fears of a broader conflict. Guterres urged all parties to exercise caution, avoid provocations, and prioritise dialogue to de-escalate the situation.
