Scheduled for 18–19 November 2025 in Aberdeen, Scotland, the West African Energy Summit (WAES) returns for its second edition under the theme “Building Bridges for Regional Prosperity.” The summit, hosted by OGV Group in collaboration with Ghana’s Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Commission and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, aims to connect technology providers, industry players, investors, and regional leaders to accelerate development across West Africa’s upstream oil, gas, and energy sectors .
This year’s summit will spotlight the role of innovative technologies, such as AI, predictive maintenance, digital twins, subsea processing, and asset integrity solutions, in promoting operational efficiency, cost reduction, and asset lifespan optimisation. Delegates can expect in-depth panel sessions and presentations over two days, featuring digital transformation, offshore infrastructure, and gas sector discussions .
A central component of WAES 2025 is the West Africa National Showcase Forum, giving energy ministers and NOC representatives a platform to promote priority upstream assets and investment opportunities. The event aims to translate strategic dialogues into bankable energy projects across 16 West African states .
Key objectives include:
Aligning cutting-edge technologies with regional infrastructure and asset development needs.
Stimulating investment flows by facilitating direct dialogue between financiers, operators, and technology vendors.
Advancing regional energy integration, promoting collective planning and cross-border project execution.
The summit’s location in Aberdeen, a global oil-and-gas hub, underscores a spirit of international collaboration. It seeks to connect West African stakeholders with global expertise, investment channels, and best practices—crucial steps towards establishing a sustainable and technologically empowered energy landscape .
WAES 2025’s vision of “Building Bridges” is both literal and figurative, bridging gaps between innovation and execution, local and global stakeholders, and present challenges with future solutions. The event promises to catalyze meaningful partnerships, practical commitments, and enhanced capacity for the region’s energy sector, positioning WAES as a cornerstone forum for regional competitiveness and prosperity.
