Abuja, June 21, 2025 – The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its dedication to upholding transparency and accountability in public procurement, as it concluded its 14th Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) meeting aimed at strengthening financial management practices within the ministry.
Presided over by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, the session served as a platform to evaluate and approve procurement plans and projects in line with existing financial regulations. The meeting highlighted the Ministry’s drive to align its procurement processes with the Federal Government’s broader directive on due process, value for money, and sound public financial management.
Mr. Enitan reiterated the Ministry’s stance on maintaining strict adherence to the Public Procurement Act and ensuring that every contractual agreement entered into by the Ministry delivers tangible results and serves the best interests of the education sector.
“The 14th MTB meeting is a reflection of our resolve to institutionalise best practices in procurement and eliminate any room for irregularities. This is crucial not just for compliance, but for ensuring that every naira spent contributes meaningfully to educational development,” he stated.
Participants at the meeting included departmental heads, procurement officials, and technical evaluators who jointly assessed procurement submissions related to infrastructure, educational resources, and service delivery. The session underscored the importance of transparency, competitiveness, and strategic planning in achieving sustainable results.
Stakeholders commended the Ministry’s consistency in organising the MTB sessions and its firm approach to enforcing financial discipline. They also expressed optimism that such accountability frameworks would translate into improved learning environments and enhanced service delivery across educational institutions.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity building for procurement personnel and strengthening oversight mechanisms, with the ultimate goal of achieving a more transparent, efficient, and result-oriented education system in Nigeria.
