2027 Presidency: I’ll Serve Only One Term If Elected — Rotimi Amaechi

Abuja, Nigeria – July, 2025 — Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that he will serve only one term if he secures his party’s ticket and wins the 2027 presidential election.

Amaechi made the pledge during a closed-door engagement with political stakeholders on Friday, where he expressed readiness to offer himself for service but emphasized that his ambition is not about power retention.

“If I get the ticket to contest in 2027 and Nigerians elect me, I will serve only one term. I am not coming to cling to power. My focus will be on laying strong foundations, implementing bold reforms, and ensuring Nigeria is repositioned for sustainable growth,” Amaechi reportedly said.

The former Rivers State governor added that Nigeria needs leaders with courage and clarity of vision, not those driven by personal ambition.

Amaechi’s one-term vow is being interpreted as a strategic move to garner wide-ranging support, especially from stakeholders who are pushing for rotational presidency and political stability. As conversations around the 2027 race intensify, his statement is expected to further shape the tone of political alignments within and beyond his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
