Sultan of Sokoto Caught in Web of Lies: NSCIA Debunks False Social Media Claims

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has sounded the alarm over the spread of false and malicious information on social media, falsely attributing a contentious statement to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.

In a press release, the NSCIA vehemently condemned the misinformation, labeling it a deliberate attempt to fuel a divisive agenda related to the alleged Islamization of Nigeria. The council emphasized that the Sultan, a revered religious leader, has been out of the country for two weeks, making it impossible for him to have made such a statement.

The NSCIA described the false claims as “baseless, unfounded, and malicious,” highlighting the Sultan’s leadership of a Muslim community that welcomes people from all ethnic groups in Nigeria. The council’s warning serves as a reminder to be cautious of misinformation on social media and to verify information through reputable sources.
