Ibas Inspects Rivers Assembly Complex, Calls for Timely Completion.

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (retd.), has directed the contractor handling the reconstruction of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex to expedite work and ensure timely completion.

Ibas emphasized that restoring full legislative activities in the state remains a key part of his mandate.

The directive was issued on Saturday during his inspection of the ongoing reconstruction at the Assembly Complex on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

Ensuring Effective Governance.
According to a statement from the Government House Press Unit, Ibas stressed the importance of having a functional legislature to complete the governance structure of the state.

“One of the missing pillars in the governance structure is the legislature. For them to function effectively, they need a place to work from. My visit today is to ensure that progress is being made so that by the end of the six months, the facility will be ready for use,” he stated.

Accompanied by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, Ibas was given a tour of the construction site by the General Manager of Monier Construction Company (MCC), Omaka Oko.

Progress on the Project.
The project, awarded to MCC, consists of a two-story building featuring 34 en-suite offices, an elevator, a gallery, meeting rooms, and a conference hall.

Ibas expressed confidence that the contractor would adhere to the agreed schedule and timeline, noting that the state had fulfilled its financial obligations.

“The state has provided the necessary funds, and it is now up to the contractor to keep to the agreed terms. Work must progress as expected to meet the deadline,” he added.

Commitment to Stability.
Ibas reiterated that his appointment was aimed at maintaining law and order in the state and ensuring that Rivers State governance returns to full functionality.
