Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has demonstrated his commitment to giving back to the community by sponsoring a Ramadan iftar for the Muslim community in Nottingham.
The event, organized by the Nottingham Forest Community Trust in collaboration with local charity Himmah, brought together 70 community members at Himmah’s Hub in Hyson Green. Awoniyi attended the event, sharing a meal with locals, including Nigerian community members.
“I’m just sharing love to the community. Trying to spread love. To show this month that is so important to my Muslim brothers and also Lent month to the Christians,” Awoniyi said.
Awoniyi’s generosity extends beyond Nottingham. In Nigeria, he oversees the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation, empowering young people through education and football development. He has also contributed to various societal and educational building projects in Ilorin, Kwara state.
Himmah’s representative, Uzair Hasmi, expressed gratitude for Awoniyi’s support. “Himmah is very grateful for Taiwo’s support and generosity to fund an event for the community. Thank you, Taiwo.”
