The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced the appointment of a new senior management team comprising eight members, tasked with steering the company’s operations and strategic direction. The company also reshuffled key management positions to enhance its operational efficiency.

A statement from the company’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, revealed the development on Friday, noting that the newly appointed team will be headed by the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mr. Bashir Ojulari. Other members of the team include Rowland Ewubare as Group Chief Operating Officer, Adedapo Segun as Group Chief Financial Officer, and Olalekan Ogunleye as Executive Vice President of Gas, Power & New Energy.

Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi, who was appointed as Executive Vice President of Downstream in November last year, has been replaced by Mumuni Dangazau in the same role. The company also appointed Sophia Mbakwe as Executive Vice President of Business Services and Adesua Dozie as Company Secretary & Chief Legal Officer. These appointments take effect immediately.

The announcement follows the appointment of the Group Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, with all positions in the new senior management team now officially confirmed. The shareholders of the national oil company have also given their approval for the new management team, which will be submitted to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act.

A resolution signed by the company’s shareholders, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, confirmed the submission of the new management team’s details to the CAC. The resolution also authorized the company’s Board of Directors and Secretary to take the necessary legal actions and make requisite filings to ensure the appointments are formally recognized.

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu had announced the reconstitution of the NNPCL management team, which resulted in the replacement of the board chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, along with all other members of the board who were appointed in November 2023.
