In a bold statement, former Lagos State House of Assembly member Sir Jude Idimogu has declared that there will be “no vacancy” in Aso Rock come 2027. This assertion reflects the growing confidence within the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects. Idimogu, who also serves as the deputy leader of the Igbo socio-cultural organization Ndigbo in Lagos State, emphasized that no coalition of opposition leaders could pose a significant threat to Tinubu’s second term bid.
Idimogu’s declaration aligns with similar sentiments expressed by other APC leaders across the country. For instance, the APC in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has also passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, affirming that there will be no vacancies in Aso Rock or the Kaduna Government House in 2027. This stance is attributed to Tinubu’s commitment to peace and security, as well as tangible infrastructural developments in the region.
The APC’s national secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola, has also echoed this confidence, urging Nigerians to support Tinubu’s administration in the next elections. Ajibola highlighted the success of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in food security reforms, as a reason for continued support.
These declarations underscore the APC’s optimism about its chances in the 2027 elections, emphasizing the party’s strong leadership and grassroots support. However, they also reflect the ongoing political maneuvering and alliances being formed ahead of the elections, as opposition groups consider potential coalitions to challenge the ruling party. Despite these challenges, the APC remains resolute in its belief that President Tinubu will secure a second term, solidifying his legacy and continuing his transformative policies for Nigeria.
