Uzor Arukwe Partners with Sterling Bank to Endorse New Zero Digital Charges Initiative

The Sterling Bank branch located on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, was the center of attention on Thursday when renowned actor Uzor Arukwe made a surprise visit to publicly endorse the bank’s newly introduced policy of zero digital banking charges. The event, which quickly gathered a large crowd of eager customers and fans, saw Arukwe opening two personal accounts on the bank’s OneBank platform, a service that promises zero transfer fees on digital banking transactions.

Arukwe, who had previously supported the initiative through a viral tweet, expressed his enthusiasm for the new policy. “This is about putting people first. For creatives and small business owners like me, this is a game changer. If a bank is willing to stop charging us just to move our own money, then it deserves our support,” he stated, emphasizing the positive impact this move would have on individuals and businesses alike.

The actor’s appearance was met with a warm reception from the bank’s leadership team, including Chief Operating Officer Temitayo Adegoke and the Growth Executive of Consumer and Business Banking, Obinna Ukachukwu. Both executives took the opportunity to highlight the bank’s commitment to easing the financial burdens on Nigerians by eliminating transfer fees.

“This is not just a tweak—it’s a full reset,” Ukachukwu said. “Every Naira saved in bank fees can go into food, education, or investment. We’re reimagining the role of banks in people’s lives.” The initiative, which forms part of Sterling Bank’s efforts to make banking more accessible and affordable, was widely praised as a significant step towards empowering Nigerians, particularly those in the creative and entrepreneurial sectors.
