Saudi Arabia Ramps Up Transport Oversight Ahead of 2025 Hajj: Over 54,000 Inspections Conducted in Makkah and Madinah

As the 2025 Hajj season approaches, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is intensifying its efforts to ensure the safety and efficiency of transportation services for pilgrims. The Transport General Authority (TGA) has launched extensive inspection campaigns across key entry points to Makkah, the holy sites, and Madinah, aiming to uphold high standards in the movement of millions of worshippers.

In a concerted effort to enhance transportation services during the sacred pilgrimage, the TGA conducted over 54,000 field inspections in Makkah and Madinah during the third week of Ramadan. These inspections led to the identification of approximately 13,000 violations, underscoring the authority’s commitment to regulatory compliance and pilgrim safety.

The violations uncovered ranged from unlicensed vehicles and unauthorized drivers to non-compliance with uniform requirements and deficiencies in vehicle safety standards. In Makkah alone, 43,000 inspections resulted in 11,000 violations, while Madinah saw 11,000 inspections with 2,000 infractions identified.

These rigorous inspections are part of the TGA’s broader strategy to ensure that transportation services meet the needs of pilgrims and align with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives. The authority continues to work closely with relevant government agencies to monitor and improve transportation services, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the sector.

As the Hajj season draws near, the TGA’s proactive measures reflect Saudi Arabia’s unwavering dedication to facilitating a safe and seamless pilgrimage experience for all worshippers.
