Nigerian-Canadian Muslim Community Gets New Leadership Team

Maruf Adekomaiya has been appointed as the new Amir (President) of the Nigerian-Canadian Muslim community, following the unveiling of the organization’s newly elected executive members. The announcement was made during the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took place at the Nigerian House. The Head of the Shura Committee (Advisory Council) formally introduced the newly appointed leaders to the community, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the leadership of the organization.

Alongside Maruf Adekomaiya, a dedicated team of individuals has been selected to serve in various leadership roles to support the mission of the organization and strengthen its community outreach efforts. Bro. Abdullah Olopade will serve as the Vice President (Naib Amir), while Sis. Hafsat Adebayo takes on the important role of Amirah (Women’s Leader). The role of Naibat Amirah (Assistant Women’s Leader) will be handled by Sis. Maisat Amodu.

The leadership team also includes Bro. Muid Adebayo as the Secretary General, with Bro. Lukman Abisoye Shonubi and Sis. Sofiyyah Alimi serving as Assistant Secretaries—Bro. Shonubi will handle the male section, and Sis. Alimi will handle the female section. Sis. Shakira Lamidi has been appointed as the Financial Secretary, while Bro. AbdRafii Abiodun Martins will serve as the Treasurer.

For public relations, Bro. Muyideen Adegbite will serve as Public Relations Officer I, with Sis. Kafila Adetunji as Public Relations Officer II. The youth wing will be coordinated by Bro. Hakeem Kolawole for the male section and Sis. Sherifat Alawiye for the female section. Bro. Saheed Ibrahim and Sis. Aisha Orankan have been appointed as Welfare Officers, with Bro. Ibrahim representing the male section and Sis. Orankan representing the female section.

The executive team also includes Bro. Idris Junaid and Sis. Kemi Ige, who have been appointed as Ex-Officio members. The newly appointed leadership has expressed its commitment to working together in furthering the mission of the organization and fostering unity and growth within the Nigerian-Canadian Muslim community.

This leadership transition marks a significant step for the community, as the new team sets out to enhance its engagement with members and contribute positively to the Muslim community in Canada.
