The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the welfare and safety of Nigerian pilgrims performing the 2024 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Muhammad Ahmad Musa, and issued from Makkah, the assurance was made during a strategic stakeholder meeting held at the Nigerian Consulate in Makkah.
During the meeting, NAHCON’s Deputy Coordinator in Makkah, Alidu Shutti, emphasized the Commission’s readiness to ensure a smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience for all Nigerian pilgrims. He noted that all hands are on deck to address emerging challenges, maintain order, and ensure effective coordination between service providers and Nigerian contingents across Saudi Arabia.
The meeting brought together key Hajj officials, representatives of State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, and officials of the Nigerian Consulate. Discussions focused on logistics, pilgrims’ accommodation, feeding arrangements, and transportation within the Holy Land.
Shutti highlighted the importance of teamwork among stakeholders, urging everyone involved to prioritize the wellbeing of pilgrims, many of whom are undertaking the spiritual journey for the first time. He also reiterated NAHCON’s zero-tolerance stance on any lapses that could compromise the sanctity or comfort of the Hajj process.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the Commission to monitor and enhance operations in real-time, especially as the Hajj season reaches its peak.
So far, thousands of Nigerian pilgrims have arrived safely in the Kingdom, and NAHCON says it remains fully committed to upholding the highest standards of care and support throughout the exercise.
